Desert Challenge “goes” UCI

We are proud to announce that Al Adaid Desert Challenge is the first off road race in Qatar to have been awarded with the UCI status. It is at the moment also the only off road race in the region that will become part of the UCI calendar. Race type is Cross-country point-to- point – XCP. The course for a cross-country point to point event starts in one place and finishes elsewhere. One day registered XCP events will be considered as class 3 events on the international calendar.

Riders in the men’s or women’s category that wish to compete in the UCI category and would like their race results to contribute to their riders’ accumulated UCI point ranking must register as UCI pro-elite category riders during online registration, at which time they must provide their UCI international racing license numbers. (Qataris and Expats with residence in Qatar can apply for an UCI license through Qatar Cycling Federation). The points that will be awarded to the UCI licensed riders is as follows: 1 st 10 points, 2 nd 6 points, 3 rd 4 points, 4 th 2 points, 5 th 1 point.

Riders which will enter in UCI category will have the advantage to start in the front and will be called up.
